Class Cancellation Policy

To reserve a place in a class, the class fee must be paid at the time you register.  Thistle Dew Quilt Shoppe (TDQS) reserves the right to cancel a class if the required minimum enrollment is not met.  Earliest notification will be given and the participant may choose either a full refund or a TDQS credit.  

If a student cannot attend a class, for whatever reason, a refund will be given only if the student notifies TDQS at least one week (7 days) before the class start date.  This is because the teacher needs at least 1 week to prepare for the class, and the teacher and Thistle Dew incur expenses to set up the class.

This was designed as a tote, but you could also use it for a pillow or small wallhanging. All you moms, grandmas, and aunties ... come and join Susan and share patterns and ideas to make garments for your special little girl's American Girl (or other 18") doll. Susan will have lots of adorable clothes to share with you. Bring your sewing machine (or knitting needles, crochet hooks, etc.) and be prepared to be creative and have a great time. (4th Thursday of each month, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.)

This Project Sew is for students who have taken one of Beth Kondoleon's recent classes and want to come and work on their project and get some more help from Beth. 1st Sun of the month, 12:30 - 3:30 p.m., beginning Feb 3, 2019, $10 per class, Beth Kondoleon.

Come and help make blankets for the Sutter Roseville NICU. A blanket on top of an isolette helps retain warmth, muffles noises, and allows parents to easily identify their baby, and the blanket goes with the family when the baby's stay at the NICU is finished. Bring supplies to make a blanket of your choice (quilted, knitted, crocheted, fleeced, etc.) and a potluck dish to share. Finished blankets should be 36"x36". This is a good opportunity for young people looking to fulfill community service requirements. If you would like to donate supplies or participate on your own at home, contact Susan. 3rd Friday of each month, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

These sessions are for advanced beginners and intermediate quilters. If you've done a little quilting, but still have questions, this is the class for you. (If you've never quilted before, you should take a Beginning Quilting class first.) Students may choose their own project, but must have their project approved by Judy. 3rd Tue of each month, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., Judy Cummings, $20/session.

Join Jennifer to make Crab-apple Hill's Winter Sampler, featuring evergreens, flowers, and snowflakes. This is a beginning embroidery class and the project is also embellished with wool leaves and beading. (Jennifer will give you ideas for finishing the sampler, but the patchwork border will not be done in class.) Second Thursday, Jan 10, Feb 14, Mar 14, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Jennifer Adams, $60 for three sessions, supply list. (Students must purchase pattern and kit [wool and beads]).

This was the 2017 Sue Spargo BOM and features beuatiful flowers and birds. Judy will guide you through the process of creating your unique masterpiece using Sue's design. We have lots of wools and embellishment threads for you to work with. Some experience with wool applique and embellilshment is required. (This is not a beginning class.) Come join Jennifer and start a new adventure in garment making. Students will learn the basics of finding their shape, color and fashion sense and will go home with a set of measurements and an understanding of what patterns will fit their body. We will also discuss interfacings, fabrics and notions needed to start a project. Saturday, January 26, 2019, 9 a.m. - noon, Jennifer Adams, $45.00 class fee.

In Garment University #2 students will expand on their understanding of garment sewing by creating a simple camp shirt. This class will take the basics taught in Garment University #1 and put them to use. We will study skills needed to create a wearable garment. Saturday, February 23 and March 23, 2019, 9 a.m. - noon, Jennifer Adams, $70.00.

In this class, students will have an understanding of sewing a basic pattern and will come with a project of their choice to sew while in class. This is a sewing class that will allow student to receive help with their garment and help with fit. Students must have garment sewing classes #1 and #2 to be in this class. Learn Hand Quilting - Start to Finish. Join Alice Calhoun on your handwork journey ... learn the techniques or improve your skills. This class includes piecing, applique, trapunto, and quilting ... all by hand! You may bring your own project or use one of Alice's design. She'll help you with whatever quilting handwork you want to learn. Alice Calhoun, 3rd Sunday, 12:30 - 3:30 p.m., $25/session.

This is an award winning quilt designed by Wendy Williams, an Australian designer. It is felted wool appliqued on cotton/linen and then embellished. It features a circle of houses around whimsical gardens. 3rd Wed, 9:00 a.m. - noon, Beth Kondoleon, $20/class. Students must sign up for 3 sessions at a time.

Join Beth in this whimsical Crap-apple HIll block-of-the-month The blocks feature vintage trailers and, of course, witches stitchin' ,and are done using tinting and embroidery. Students must pay for the first 4 classes at signup - $80. Beth Kondoleon, 1st Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., beginning Feb. 2, 2019, $20/class. Come and join Judy to stitch on Sue Spargo's 2019 BOM - Forest for the Trees. You'll have the incentive to keep up with this beautiful block-of-the-month and be inspired by your fellow students. And of course, Judy is there to help you. You must be enrolled in this BOM with Sue Spargo to participate in this group. 3rd Mon of the month, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., $30 for 3 session, Judy Cummings. .

This Project Sew is for students who have taken one of Judy Cummings' Sue Spargo classes and want to come and work on their project and get some help from Judy. This is not a beginning handwork class. Judy will be available for help only on Sue's projects. Come for a couple of hours or stay all day. 2nd Sat of the month, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., beginning Feb 9, 2019, $30 per class, Judy Cummings. Students must pay for 3 classes at a time.

On Sunday, April 28, from noon - 4pm, Linda Sicard will be at Thistle Dew showing and selling her large and unique assortment of antique and vintage buttons and buckles. Linda continually adds to her collection, and it features several contemporary button artists plus an ever-changing, ever-expanding array of antique treasures.
